The Du‘a’ can be recited in a plural, dual, or feminine form, according to who the Salah (Prayer) is being performed for. If the gender of the person is not known, it is permissible to use a masculine form to refer to the Mayt (masculine word in Arabic referring to the dead) or a feminine form to refer to the Janazah (feminine word in Arabic referring the funeral).
